Sleepy greetings from Vicenza! As I was saying in my last post, I'm in Italy for the wedding of my friends Andrea and Elisabetta, who made me lunch today at their 15th-century apartment in the center of town. The home, a "mansarda," or--from mansard roof--an attic apartment with an exposed timber frame, has regional stylings like a Veneziana floor and tegola coppi, those curved roof shingles. (At least I think these are regional...) Old parts of Vicenza reflect the design influence of Venice at the time, like the prevalence of Venetian windows, which you can see on other buildings in the area.
Below, the courtyard; Elisabetta entering the kitchen; living room; a man on the corner; Andrea setting the table. Many more pics soon, but naptime calls.

Such a happy post! Have a great time, Liz. Any chance you'll stop in sunny TLV on your way home?:)
